Local residents are often a theme park's worst nightmare. Granted, they of course should be affected as little as possible by the operations of the park; after all, many of them probably 'pre-date' it, so to speak. However, you do wonder why they can put up with noise from a coaster for four years, but then dig their heels in. Yet that's exactly what happened.

From 2004-2007, the Jungle Coaster operated as it was designed to, and it was a really enjoyable ride. However, for the 2008 season, the park were forced to act upon noise complaints received from local residents. Their solution? Attach a soundproof box to the top of each coaster car, effectively turning it into some sort of goldfish bowl.

This created a tonne of problems, mainly due to weight. It fast became one of the park's least reliable rides, with one of the worse throughputs. The result? It had to go. Completely LEGOLAND Windsor has been informed that on Tuesday 26th January 2010, the disassembling of the Jungle Coaster began. With the coaster gone, management believe that assuming gate figures stay constant, guests will on average experience more rides per day.

Of course it shouldn't be forgotten that the other major reason for it's removal is the development of a LEGOLAND hotel, which is earmarked for the same site. However, the Jungle Coaster could always have been moved instead of removed. The modifications seem to have forced the park's hands somewhat.
