LEGOLAND Windsor have revealed that at the start of the 2012 season, a brand new indoor Star Wars Miniland will be opened, which will recreate seven of the most famous scenes from the Star Wars films - six from the films, and one from the animated series, 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'.
Star Wars Miniland Experience will follow a chronological path through the Star Wars timeline, and feature approximately 2,000 models in 1:20 scale from the planets Naboo, Geonosis, Kashyyk, Mustafar, Tatooine, Hoth, Endor and Christophsis. The attraction will also feature authentic Star Wars sounds, actions and lighting effects, increasing the overall immersion for visitors.
The attraction is likely to be located in the building previously occupied by Rocket Racers, which was closed down in October 2011.
Sue Kemp, divisional director of the resort, commented:
We are delighted to have Star Wars as a permanent part of LEGOLAND, having successfully tested the water with our extremely popular Star Wars events. The Saga’s universal story about the battle between good and evil has transfixed adults and children over many decades and we expect it to be phenomenally popular with our visitors of all ages.
Rocket Racers was an attraction loved by many, many people, and so in a sense Star Wars Miniland will have a lot to live up to, but new additions to the park are always welcome, and from what is currently known this new attraction is already looking exciting!
