If you've been to another Merlin attraction, such as Thorpe Park, then you'll have seen these before. They're practically identical wherever you go, and there's a reason for that: they're all outsourced to a company called HB Leisure.
This seems to be one of the less favourable outcomes of the transfer of ownership of the park to Merlin Entertainments - a slow move away from good, clean fun and towards greater money making tactics not previously employed by The LEGO Group. Mole-in-One Golf is another example of this.
Having said all that, these games could well interest some willing to pay the extra fee, and can easily be ignored by all others.
